Lendorien
Out of curiosity (forgive me if there's a thread on this already), what are the known unreleased Atari 7800 prototypes? That is, protos of games that were never released. So far I've found reference to * GATO - Submarine Simulator - Unfinished/Not playable * Klax - Completed and sold in limited numbers in the 2000's * Missing in Action - Platformer - Unfinished but playable - This looks pretty cool. There aren't really any platformers like this on the 7800. * Pit Fighter - Fighting game - Unfinished * Plutos - Top down space shooter - 6 levels complete. No ending. - gosh this proto needs to be cleaned up, finished and released. It looks amazing. * Rampart - Strategy game - Incomplete and fairly unplayable * Sirius - Side scroll space shooter - 4 levels completed. No ending. - Like above, this proto needs to be cleaned up, finished and released. It looks amazing. Any others or is this meager fare all there is? Animan
A version of Rescue on Fractalus was programmed, and got pretty far in development, but was never released.

Animan
I swear I remember hearing that Roadblasters was going to have a port, but was canceled. I can't say if that's true or not...
carmel_andrews
I guess the 7800 version of davids midnight magic was done at the same time as the a8 cartridge version (and probably the 7800 version was a straight portover)
7800Lover
Fascinating list of Atari 7800 prototypes...now only if someone could locate these and put together a homebrew.

I've never heard such a rumor. Tempest
carmel_andrews
I was guessing that to save money, they did the xegs and 7800 versions at the same time tempest (since atari didn't have nintendo zillions to splash out on separate developments) just curious though, what version did the 7800 go with, the yucky green/white version of the XEGS or the original a800 version (artifacted)...but i have seen a hacked colour a800 version...does'nt look too bad
ApolloBoy
I guess the 7800 version of davids midnight magic was done at the same time as the a8 cartridge version (and probably the 7800 version was a straight portover) There is no 7800 version of Midnight Magic, I think you mean the 2600 version. Who the crap was David, anyway? David Snider, who originally programmed the game and also developed Serpentine for Broderbund.

Try 2 down from the loderunner entry (i am guessing that refers to 'davids' midnight magic) Interesting that Turrican was being dev'd for the 7800....perhaps an A8 version is possible then (even if there will be a lack of sprite gfx) Edited October 6, 2010 by carmel_andrews
