littleman jack
Does anyone out there know if there were ever any attempts to make Venture for the 5200? Was it an omission due to timing, or lack of interest? The Colecovision had a nice version, and the 5200 certainly seems more than capable to have an excellent version as well. Just wondering and wishing.
zylon
Not that I know of. I would've liked to see this one as it was my favorite Coleco title on 2600 or INTV.

Venture was one of those games just on the cusp of being great. I think a rewrite could address some of the annoyances with it. Make the monsters a little smarter, don't kill off the player for touching a dead monster, add more levels and add a little randomness to the map generation. Greg2600
Coleco had the rights to Venture, so there was no way it would have been made on the 5200. Unfortunately there was no 8-bit release either, so there's really no source to make it an easy conversion. Someone would have to do it from scratch. Vic George 2K3
I'd like to see a homebrew attempt at making a 5200 version of this game.
Greg2600
Has Venture even been re-released in recent years on any compilations? I don't think so. It's like a forgotten game.

I don't think it's ever been released on a compilation either. Has any Exidy game been a part of one?
Greg2600
According to wikipedia, Mean Hamster Software have held the rights to Exidy games since 2006, but haven't done anything with them.
akator
I love Venture. It's one of those simple and awesome games that is worth playing repeatedly. Personally, I don't need a 5200 version. I have it on MAME, a ColecoVision, a 2600, and the Intellivision. I enjoy all of them already. Each one is different with good and bad. I would prefer that a homebrew version of something else, unavailable previously, be ported. I don't expect people to agree with me, but that's my 2 cents. mckafka99
Seems like at one point Curt had rights to distribute Venture (the arcade version and other Exidy titles) with his Awesome Arcade product. http://www.awecades.com/pamgames.htm I wish this Exidy collection could be had in some other form.
