Tenorman
I have an Atari 130XE and recently purchased Demon Attack only to find out that it isn't compatible with XL / XE models. Is it possible to run this using the translator disk? Can the translator disk even be used to boot up cartridge based software or is this strictly for disk software? Anything else I should be aware of here? Thanks.
jaybird3rd
Demon Attack was (originally) a cartridge release, so it wouldn't allow you to boot the translator disk first. You might want to try the disk version (the Demon Attack / Pitfall! compilation) that Activision released later.

There is a cartridge based translator that lets you pull the translator cart and insert another cart and run it. It is tricky to get to work and not good for the computer probably. +orpheuswaking
You have several options 1) The aforementioned Demon Attack/Pitfall disk version 2) Get a 800 3) The Cartridge based translator 4) A multiOS in your Atari that allows you to boot to 400/800 OS

Call it Demon XL...
+orpheuswaking
Actually I'm sure there are even other ways to get it to work, those were of the top of my head LOL
Tenorman
I suppose maybe it is time to stop putting off ordering a SIO2PC adapter so I can just go download the disk version.
WizWor
I suppose maybe it is time to stop putting off ordering a SIO2PC adapter so I can just go download the disk version. Another approach would be to get a maxflash cart. I created an 8m image that included demon attack and worked on an XEGS. Steve put an image on my first cart, so he might do the same for you. Here's a link to my image that includes Demon Attack... http://www.atarimax.com/flashcart/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=593 Here is a link to the carts... http://www.atarimax.com/flashcart/documentation/ This is the best 'peripheral' I have purchased for my Atari.
