Thezalor
I remember reading some where that not all the 2600 games work with the 7800. So can you tell me which 2600 games don't work with the 7800. Also the really important games that I really want are, berzerk, missile command, and defender. So can you also tell me if those work on the 7800. (Oh and please tell me the god awful pac-man for the 2600 does not work on the 7800.) +SpiceWare
Check the 7800 FAQ on Atari Age home page.
DracIsBack
I remember reading some where that not all the 2600 games work with the 7800. The overwhelming majority do without issue. There's a small handful that *MAY NOT* work on *certain* 7800s and another handful that may not fit correctly. But it's not consistent. As Spiceware said, the FAQ will give details. Also the really important games that I really want are, berzerk, missile command, and defender. So can you also tell me if those work on the 7800. (Oh and please tell me the god awful pac-man for the 2600 does not work on the 7800.) They all work fine on all 7800s unless the 7800 is defective. :-)
WERY
If I understood the FAQs correctly, the 1984 version which has the expansionport, should work with all VCS games while the 1986 version does'nt work with some games
OldAtarian
Can anyone confirm if Dodge Em should work with all versions? It doesn't seem to like mine for some reason.
zylon
The only 2600 game I had compatibility issues with was 3D Tic Tac Toe.

My 7800 was made around 1990 and it plays "problem" games like Decathlon and Robot Tank just fine.
Thezalor
Thanks for all the help. But in the end I still decided to get the 2600. I could not resist the wood grain. Well that and the fact that it was like 30 dollars cheaper then the 7800.
OldAtarian
Thanks for all the help. But in the end I still decided to get the 2600. I could not resist the wood grain. Well that and the fact that it was like 30 dollars cheaper then the 7800. Geez, how much was the 7800 going for that it was $30 more and what came with it? Woodys typically go for $50 by themselves and I wouldn't pay $80 for a 7800 without something sweet thrown into the deal. I paid $80 for my 5200 and that's a much more in demand system and came with games. I only paid $50 for my 7800 a few weeks ago and got a bunch of games with it including a R6 2600 game. Unless the 7800 came with LOTS of games it sounds like you were right to wait for a better deal to come along on one.
