AtariLeaf
Sometime when I turn on the 7800 just as the Atari logo shows up there will sometimes be a bit of a high pitched beep for just a fraction of a second. The machine plays fine otherwise and I never noticed this before. Anyone heard this on their machine?
phuzzed
I do believe I know what you are referring to. I'll hear something similiar after switching cartridges, and powering on. It's not really a "beep", but more of a slight "squeal". Sometimes, it will resemble a sound from the game previously played.... For example, if I play Enduro for a while, and then switch to another game, right as I power on, I'll hear a split second of the motor running from Enduro. I don't know the cause, but I dont' think it's anything to be worried about.
+save2600
Caps discharging mixed with a little R.F. interference is probably what you're hearing and each system/location probably hears a little different squeal, high pitched sound or whatever. I've noticed it too across various electronics that have soft-resets (logic controller on-off shunts). BTW: had to do a double-take. Thought the subject was "quick beer at startup".
