The_Laird
Thats a matter opinion but anyway its off topic. I still find it quite strange that after all these years absolutely no code has been found
wozencl
In my opinion the Jaguar II would not have made much of a difference to Atari's fortunes even if it had been released. If were acccept the exaggerated specs as true they would not have addressed the fundamental issues Atari was facing. i.e. It's lack of cash (relatively speaking), it's poor treament of developers and, perhaps most importantly and because of the others points, a complete lack of quality games. Arguably the Jaguar was doomed from as early as Q1 1994. Atari needed to make a big impact on release, which given the state of the development software and support was almost impossible, and to establish a firm foothold in the market. Instead there was the bungled staggered launch and a trickling of poor quality games interspersed with the exceedingly rare Tempest 2K, AVP or Doom like game. It's telling that so much of Atari's money at the time came from lawsuits and property sales - to me it reflects the lack of creativity and talent they possesed towards the end. Incapable of creating fresh IP they had to resort to squeezing the last few $'s out of old patents before the ship sank entirely. No new hardware, no matter how powerful, would have been able to offset the state the company was in towards the end.
