Falcon SCSI II issue - can't see external hard drives

hi all

 

i have a falcon motherboard which does indeed work but does not work with the external SCSI II port/drive (a common issue i hear)

 

anyway i know the external drive i am using and cable is all ok 100% as i use it on another falcon with no problems

 

but this other board cannot see the drive, i use HDDRIVER 8.18

 

i even have a falcon test cartridge and that can't see it either

 

i have changed the 3 terminators behind the scsi port and checked the F1 fuse all ok, so i am thinking it could be the LOGIC L53C80JC chip

 

if anyone else has experienced this problem or could advise on what else to check i'd greatly appreciate it
