Scart cable for Atari 7800 (french PAL)

Hi everyone,

I'm a french guy who just got an Atari 7800 but the scart (peritel) cable is missing.

This cable was very often provided as a standard with european (especially those sold in France) Atari 7800 instead of the aerial TV link.

In several forums I browsed yesterday, especially on some french forums, I saw people saying that this cable is compatible with Atari ST computer series...

I asked a seller who provides cables for retro-computing to sell me one for Atari ST to use with my Atari 7800 and provided him the cable connection scheme on this page : http://khryssun.free.fr/SCART7800_code.html

He said the cable are not the same and the Atari ST one will not work on the Atari 7800 !!!

Is there someone reading me here (even a french member :-) to tell me what's right, what's wrong (even the scheme proposed at the weblink I provided above ?

Regards,

Mitch,

Thank for your interest for my post.

Well, the guy I know is going to make me a cable based on the scheme available at the link I provide.

I can ask him to wait until you or someone else go give me feedback.

The question remains : is the scheme at the link correct or not ?

In other words, is this why he says the ST cables he used to sell won't work ?

I can confirm that they are the same, I purchased an original Atari ST one recently and it works perfectly.

I also bought a home made one from ebay UK and that works fine too, although the quality is nowhere near as good as the genuine article
