jeremysart
Most of the games that I own for the 7800 are just re-do's of the same games I owned for my 2600. From your own opinions, what are some of the best original, or 7800 exclusive titles that were not previously arcade/ 2600 releases? And which games do you feel really best showcase the 7800's power and potential?
TrekMD
Midnight Mutants comes to mind as a game that is only available on the 7800 and which shows what the 7800 can do.
mbd30
Never played them, but "Plutos" and "Sirius" might be fun shooters, and both seem interesting in terms of showing off the 7800's untapped technical capabilities. And if you want a challenge, there's also "Tower Toppler" which I used to have for PC.
The_Laird
Ninja Golf Ballblazer Mean 18 Ultimate Golf Alien Brigade Scrapyard Dog Apart from the ones mentioned already none of these were on the 2600 and all showcase the 7800 in one way or another. jeremysart
Cool! Thanks for the suggestions. I have seen Ballblazer and Scrapyard Dog before, but have surprizingly never played them. Ballblazer looks like a really good 2 player game, Tower Toppler and Ninja Golf looks like hours of fun too! I'll have to eventually get a hold of all of these titles. Yeah Ballblazer showcases how great a game can be if it actually uses a Pokey chip.

Austin
Definitely Ninja Golf. That one is so goofy it's simply awesome. Also, Tower Toppler, while not exclusive, shows what the system can do I suppose. Nice animations, and that rotation effect is still really neat to look at. jeremysart
Ooooh, Ninja Golf is a rare one. Only one I can find is on eBay for $59.99 I'm going to keep my eye out for a loose copy of this one. Tower Toppler and Ballblazer it is, for now! Atari_Falcon
Well, although it strongly depends on my mood, my favorite "non arcade/non port of 2600" games are: - Ninja Golf - Alien Brigade - Scrapyard Dog - Basketbrawl (Atari really was into this weapons and sports games in the 90's *g*) - Water Ski

Atari_Falcon
And which games do you feel really best showcase the 7800's power and potential? Best showcase games to show your friends: - Midnight Mutants (boss fights are awsome and sometimes you have tons of enemies on screen without slowdown!) - Scrapyard Dog (fast side scrolling and nice and big drawn sprites - I prefer them over the Lynx version) - Jinks - The intro speech and music is excellent (even without pokey) - Any flight sim and Ballblazer shows that the 7800 was capable of some decent and fluid "3d" graphics - Alien Brigade - This game looks great in any way (although scrolling is a little choppy, but graphics are rich in detail) - Motor Psycho - The scrolling and hill effects are very nice... CRTGAMER
For some reason I like the 5200 Ballblazer better, one of the few games that work with the non-centering pot sticks. The 7800 has some great two player exclusives such as Asteroids "Space War" mode.
