cirenala Posted February 24, 2011 Share Posted February 24, 2011 Picked up a Suncom Tac-3 at the thrift. on DK Mario automatically goes right. if i pull left he will go left but will not stand still. on Pac-man Pac goes up and right. I don't remember if those use micro switches or not, if so, you can replace it and likely fix the issue. If it's a dome or leaf spring, you might can pop it back in place, maybe wedge it in the open position with a bit of foam (or some other non conductive springy material) but that's only really going to prolong the controllers deterioration, as well as potentially causing other problems. Rockin' Kat Posted March 22, 2011 Share Posted March 22, 2011 If it's anything like my Tac-2 or slik-stik, it's not micro switches... the stick is attached to a metal ball, which is then pushed against a big metal contact for each direction The fire button is probably on a big spring and has a washer on it which closes a connection between two points when pressed down. When I got my Tac-2 the fire buttons weren't working well, but I was able to use a deoxidizer on them. Here is a crappy web-cam shot of a SunCom Slik Stik opened up.
