CPUWIZ
Hey everyone, I have this Video Life repro that I bought from sunmark.com when they first came out and bought a Cosmic Swam, stripped it and voila I had a Video Life cart. Now that I own the real deal I made a super nice glossy label for it (the repro actually looks better than the real thing ). I invested around $80.00,- to get to this stage and I want some opinion on wether or not to set a reserve at this price or set a high starting bid ? FND
Very nice job, looks good, actually to good I don't see any markings that would distinguish it from the real thing and I would be concerned it may end up being sold as the real deal somewhere down the line. But to answer your question I would start it at the high end of your investment.
kheffington
I think you would be better off with a low starting bid and reserve. A high starting price will discourage bidders.
Rick Weis
@cpuwiz, are there any marking that would distinguish it from the real thing? incase there are and we can't see them! when mark made the chips i was wondering when this would happen! someone could make lots of $$$$ off this! to answer your question low starting bid high reserve. Take Care, Rick
CPUWIZ
There are no markings but the original Video Life does not have a laminated label, it's barely even glossy. Thanks for your opinions guys, anyone else want to throw something in ?

badbrad
Personally, I don't like mystery reserves, I think you should just start the bidding at $80 Brad
sku_u
A high starting price would discourage some people. Why not set a reserve and add a BIN option of $300. This'll give people some idea as to the rarity of the cart even as a repro. You should also include a detailed description of the cart to accompany the photo. MegaManFan
1. Low opening bid 2. $80 reserve 3. Buy It Now option for twice that amount. If you're ever interested in manufacturing another one in approximately the same way, let me know. I don't want to get into a bidding war on eBay for this one. FND
I never like reserve auctions mainly because most are unreasonably high, what I usually do in this type of auction is make my best bid right there and then but if it does not reach the reserve I never look back. The above scenario I am sure has caused some auctions to end below the Max, the reason being is I am a last minute sniper and will sometimes bid even higher then I would have earlier especially if I see someone in the bid history that I know will bid high, but like I said this will not happen if there is a reserve FND
