zylon
That sounds like a switchbox issue. The 5200 uses a momentary switch for power.
phuzzed
Interesting.... I have seen a few consoles where the 5200 switch sticks. The switch can be disassembled, if necessary. I've seen the 4013 chip (U29) cause the system to either stick in an always ON or always OFF position, making it where the switch won't turn the system on or off. Like Zylon, I'm wondering if this is a switchbox issue....
eightbitter
Many years ago I accidentally plugged the power supply from 1050 to the 5200th. I did not notice the error, and dug the whole 5200 board, replaced 4013 and resistors, until I noticed that the power supply does not proper. 5200 lived happily Edited June 17, 2011 by eightbitter

I have one that is stuck ON, but I don't mind since the 5200 is the only system that you don't have to turn off and on to switch games. I'm just glad it's stuck ON instead of OFF

Taken from the 5200 FAQ here: http://www.atarihq.com/5200/5200faq/5200faq.txt * Cartridge The cartridges can be up to 32K. There are two interlock connectors that are wired together on a cartridge board. The 5200 uses this as a switch for the cartridge's power connections and as a Reset signal. Therefore, a cartridge may be safely removed or inserted while the 5200 is powered on.
