boxpressed
I just picked up a loose 3D Imager and six loose carts on eBay: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 250872252136 Good deal or not for a loose, untested 3D Imager? It seems to have the color wheel inside. I figure if it doesn't work, I'll stick it on a mannequin head, set it next to the Vectrex, and stare at it. Desfeek
ooo it's dusty, but if I had seen that I would have bought it in a heartbeat. If it works, you got yourself a steal, if it doesn't, $90 is not that bad. Worth the risk imo to get a 3D imager. Lucky, lucky guy

It was worth the gamble on the off chance that this thing is working. If not, someone might be able to repair it.
the-topdog
WOW! A hell of a deal working or not! I have some spare, loose 3D Vectrex cartridges if you are looking for some.

I'm definitely interested if they come with the associated color wheel. Now I really hope this thing works!
Desfeek
I have 3D Crazy Coaster (cart, manual, 3D wheel, wheel sleeve) and 3D Narrow Escape (cart, manual, 3D wheel) up for trade. Here's my want list: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/185873-wanted-vectrex-stuff/
fmdof
damn good deal man. I've watched those things go for hundreds. Boxed have gone over a 1000 on a few occasions. If it doesn't work, it will sure look good. Plus you can get some of your money back sellin the games if you already own them. Totally jealous over here. boxpressed
Everything arrived today, well-packaged. And the 3D Imager ... WORKS! Plus, the other five games came with overlays that weren't mentioned in the listing. The helmet is in very good shape, except that I think it is missing the foam padding. My favorite eBay score to date.
Atari_Bill
Wow, nice score! This along with an Adventurevision and an original Intelly Keyboard component would be the 3 dream pieces that I would love to have in my collection beyond all others. Based on the typical prices for any of them, I know that will never happen.
boxpressed
I'd love to have an Adventurevision as well, but I'm not familiar with the keyboard. Time for some research... The visor has some dust on the inside that I'd like to clean, but I don't want to crack the plastic. I may just leave it alone. Minestorm 3D is really fun, if only to see objects be one of *two* colors on the Veccy.

Canned air is your friend! I think I'll try that. The thing is, there's a little slot with a cover that opens that allows you to insert the color wheel hub. I'd have to shoot the air through the slot, which about 1/8" wide and basically the only way for dust to come in or out. So, I might just swirl the dust around in there, but that wouldn't be so bad. I'm going to give it a try later. Edited August 15, 2011 by boxpressed

TrekMD
I'm new to the VECTREX. What exactly does this helmet do?
boxpressed
Well, what it doesn't do is make you look cool for the ladies. But that's okay to married guys like me. It allows you to play a few Vectrex games in "3D" and color (well, at least more than monochrome). There are only a few games that were made for it, and I have only one -- 3D Minestorm. But it is a great game, and the 3D is pretty nifty and ahead of its time.
TrekMD
Cool. I have a multicart that has several 3D games. I did not realize that additional hardware was needed to play them! And rare hardware on top of that! Well, it does look like you got quite lucky!
iesposta
I recently paid 10 times what you paid for a boxed Imager. Your auction was titled viewer so many probably missed it.
