Andre81
Lately I see more and more VGA (Video Game Authority) graded items on eBay. The only purpose seems to be to turn a $20 item into a $200 item. I even see low graded items at such prices. Now the seller eBay Seller: video_game_quality grades his own items and mimicking the VGA grading. Looking at his feedback, buyers even pay those prices. Is it only me who would never buy such graded items?
Zwackery
Is it only me who would never buy such graded items? I wouldn't buy them either. I actually play the games I own. And read all my comic books. And I take my action figures out of their packages.
Andre81
Here is an example. You can get "Jurassic Park" for the Genesis sealed for $14.99 in a good condition: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 310338588968 And now this one, with a poor VGA grade for $78.74: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 320591210621 So now what exactly makes an item in poor condition $60 worth more? The $10 acrylic case? A sticker that certifies that this item is in a poor condition?

I wouldn't buy another one. I bought it a when I first started collecting and didn't know any better.
edintv
That´s Hilarious! and the most incredible thing is that it was sold, even 10$ was high for that game, for the joke maybe was worthy.

That fake ad in the fourth post is pure gold. Edited August 30, 2011 by ianoid
HatefulGravey
I have never been tempted to buy a graded game. Like others here, I play my games. I also just can't see paying that kind of money for something like that. There is no way to be sure you aren't getting screwed anyway. Its like all sealed games, you are trusting that the game is in there. Most of the time it isn't a problem, but a less then honest seller could make a killing off nothing just abusing the trust of the community. I do hate these things a good deal in the NES world for sure. I would like to get some CIB copies of a few games just to have them to display, but everytime you search for that kind of thing you get a pile of way over priced VGA "graded" crap. I'm glad this was posted because I have wondered myself if anyone actually picked those things up. Looks like its just a trap for newbies and people that think these things are worth a pile of cash because Auction Wars told them so. Is it only me who would never buy such graded items? This absolutely disgusts me. Grading turned me away from sports card collecting and comic collecting probably 10 years ago. It became nothing more than a rediculous money grab that I wanted no part of. I'm so hoping that it doesn't invade this hobby in any significant way. homerwannabee
This is an NES thing. Just more collectors in general. For the Atari 2600 market it never took off. So unless there is an influx of new collectors don't expect to see many graded Atari 2600 games.
