Hank
Of the six or so 2600s I have, I think I have one or maybe two working power supplies. I know RadioShed has supplies that will work by they're close to $15. Is there any other commonly available supply that anyone knows of? oesii
I usually just look at all the power supplies at a thrift and see if they match the 9vDC, 500ma rating of the Atari. I've only found one that matched from an ancient answering machine I think. Most people just buy a universal adapter I think because no other classic system uses this type of power supply except maybe the Atari video pinball console. benjam138
I agree with Oesii. Check out some thrifts near you. I've found two Radio Shack universals. One was $1.99 and the other was $.99. If it doesn't have the correct end piece, I think they are pretty cheap at Radio Shack.
Brad2600
Around here, RadioShat has adaptors that cost $20! I'd rather buy an used power supply for my 2600s. As long as it works, the condition doesn't matter to me.
Hank
I guess technically it can be 500 mA or greater, and it's easy enough to splice the cord. I was just hoping there was a drop in replacement somewhere. Oh well. Those powersupplies must be pretty crappy as many broken ones as I have. Chuck Gill
Hank, I have some third party power supplies that are perfect replacements. They are 9vdc 500ma with the correct end. They are brand new and much cheaper than Radio Shack. The cord is shorter than the orginal Atari, but it is still pretty long. If you can't find one locally drop me a PM or Email. -Chuck
Dr Galaga
MECI - http://www.meci.com/ - has a 9 VDC, 600mA Transformer (MECI Part Number: 600-0274) for $5.00. I've had some pretty good luck from this company before. If the tip isn't the right one you could always cut off the old one and solder it on this one. Ed Siegler
I just picked up three replacement power supplies on Ebay from the seller as_the_gavel_falls. They were 8.49 each, and shipping was I think 3.00 for all of them. They're not bad and he has about 90 or so of them left up for sale.
