Chaos Protocol
Ok, I'm trying to decide which joysticks I should look for when I go out Thrift Hunting. I prefer traditional trigger-style joysticks, but also love the Atari styles with the stick and the button on the base... any recommendations? Here's what I have so far: (x2) Quickshot (also have as "Spectravideo") model #318-102 Made by Spectravideo All black with red triggers. This joystick has a sturdy base with suction cups to hold it in place. Stick is double trigger (thumb and index finger) and molded to fit firmly in hand. also features autofire switch. (x2) Quickshot II Plus model #SVI-102 Plus Made by Spectravideo Identical to Quickshot, but makes "click" sound when stick is moved or triggers are activated (x6) CX40 Joystick Made by Atari Generic controller provided by Atari with systems If you don't know these, you don't know Atari Click if you need to see it (x2) CX30 Paddles by Atari Paddles used in games such as Tennis, Breakout and Superbreakout I have seen these in three types, one says Atari on stickers, others say paddle or tennis(I have the ones w/ Atari on them) Click if you need to see them (x2) CX24 Pro-Line by Atari These are the 7800 joysticks. Long narrow and awkward as heck, still, they are sleek and retro looking CLick here if you need to see it I know there are many other decent controllers (I have seen a few types of Quickshot controllers) but I preffer thicker sturdier sticks and most seem flimsy. Which do you all preffer?
badbrad
The Wico Boss is common (around $5) and impossible to break, it uses arcade leaf switches for contacts. It's responsive and sturdy IMHO.
oesii
since it uses the same joysticks as the 2600 and C64, there's like 500 different options, hard to pick favorites, usually a matter of personal preference. My personal preference lately as been the Coin Controls Competition Pro Joystick, whiter or black, with 2 buttons, and heavy arcade grade construction. oesii
found a pic, this the 5200 version which is rare and pricey but the 2600 stick looks identical with 9pins and is dirt cheap.
classics
With trigger style I would fly Wico all the way. For anything else go with a TAC-2, there is no better stick IMHO.
