Gregory DG
Inside Atari Basic by Bill Carris (I think that's the spelling.) Anyone else use this book to learn BASIC? It's got to be my FAVORITE book simply because it was easy and entertaining to read. I too aspire to write my future books and manuals in that style! My favorite part: The robot holding the sign above his head that read "STRANGE CONCEPTS"
Chaos Protocol
I use one called Kids Working With Computers The Atari BASIC Manual by: Thomas Milton Kemnitz and Lynne Mass Trillium Press New York Can't get much deeper than a book that looks like it was hand written and chock full of Atari spacemen... written towards kids, but very simple.... +Sauron
I learned Atari BASIC through my 130XE's user manual. However, I did enjoy reading Inside Atari Basic, which went into far more detail, and eventually became the stepping stone for learning 6502 asm. Shannon
Yeah I had that book before I even had an atari computer. Borrowed it from my typing teacher, eventually purchased it myself. Wrote my first basic program "hangman" on paper (no computer), typed it in on a (ack) ti-99 display computer at the local kmart (100 line program). Within a year my parents bought me a brand spanking new 48k Atari 400 with a cassette drive, basic programming cartridge, and missile command. I didn't tell them at the time but I mainly wanted the computer to play all the cool games. Ended up typing them in from magazines like compute. Eventually learned to program myself.
