smagnotta
The AA store has Beef Drop for the 7800 with TIA sound. I saw there was a version of this with POKEY sound. Is the 7800 Beef Drop Pokey version still available? If so, is it in cart form, or do you need to play it on an emulator? Thanks
mimo
POKEY version is not readily available due to scarcity of POKEY carts. You may find a used one if you are lucky, or if you have an x-board or will be getting the XM, I believe that the currently available cart will detect POKEY
smagnotta
Oh cool - you see I have the 8 bit Ataris and a 7800, and saw the 7800 had a better version (graphics), but I will be getting the XM. Is it definite that the current cart will detect POKEY? Burger Time was one of my favorites in the arcades. GroovyBee
Is it definite that the current cart will detect POKEY? Burgertime was one of my favorites in the arcades. Based on the last publicly available demo of Beef Drop on the forum it'll work fine with the POKEY in XM (as far as I can tell). If Kenfused hasn't changed anything in the detection and music driver code between the demo and the real cart it'll be OK on XM hardware too. smagnotta
Do all homebrew games support the X-board? What is this X-board anyway?
GroovyBee
Do all homebrew games support the X-board? No! As far as I'm aware only Froggie and Beef Drop use POKEY on XBOARD. XBOARD also has some bank switched RAM too but I don't think any homebrew games use that. The XM enables its POKEY in the same way as XBOARD so both those games should play music on the XM's POKEY. That was one of the original XM design requirements. What is this X-board anyway? This is the XBOARD homepage :- http://www.x-game.se/products/xboard.htm
