31336haxx0r
How much current can the stock 1040ST/STE power supply deliver?
31336haxx0r
According to this site http://www.maedicke.de/atari/hardware/megast.htm it probably puts out 3 amps on the 5V rail and 1 amp on the +12V rail. Excellent!
Rybags
Mega would almost certainly be different (more) since they were intended for internal expansions. I measured the power use of my 1040ST/FM with a meter, it was somewhere around 20 Watts. Funnily enough an Amiga 500 was less than that. Generally a power supply will be rated over what an idling computer uses by at least a third, so (3x5) + (1x12) = 27 Watts sounds feasible as a minimum estimate for a standard ST. 31336haxx0r
Apparently, the PSU can draw up to 95 Watts from the mains side. If that's really the case, it has an efficiency of a meager 28.4%.
