ssj
Hi, I'm trying to do a full set of Atari 5200 boxes to use with a frontend, but finding scans for the spines seems to be an impossible work. It's relatively easy to find them for Atari 2600 or 7800 games, but really hard for the 5200. So I wonder if anyone could help me out with spine scans of the boxes (left side when looking at the front cover), or some good resolution pictures of them would work just fine too. If someone has a shelf with several A5200 games lined up and could take some pictures of their spines that would be a huge help. I think it's a pitty that most of the sites for any system (atariage included) only archive front and back scans, if it's about preservation spine scans should be equally important. Any help would be much appreciated.
ssj
bump No one interested on helping out? Here's a video for a similar project we did for Atari 7800, maybe this will help people to get the idea on why the spines are needed: It's proving to be almost impossible to do something like this for the 5200, because it's not possible to find scans or pictures for the majority of the spines. +Allan
If you just need the spines, wouldn't it be easier just to make them from scratch. The font is easily obtainable, and all you need is a black version of the fuji for the bottom. They would certainly look a lot cleaner. The video you linked to looks like they made the box sides up as well. Allan
ssj
Allan, the font is easy enough like you say, but there are lots of boxes that have some small characters on the spines (like Joust of Kangaroo) and there's no way to do those from scratch we need scans or at least good resolution pictures of them to cut them out. That's the main problem, also I don't know for sure which games have those characters, I know quite a few that have them, but since I never saw the spines for all games, I have no clue how many have those. And then there are boxes like the Activision, CBS or Parker Brothers that aren't as simple as the regular Atari 5200 spines. Some hi-res pictures of an Atari 5200 shelf collection showing all the spines should be more than enough.
