KevinMos3
Have you ever wanted to change the pinkish color of Tank Command to something different? Well, here is a solution.update: I didn't realize how out-dated the ROMs were, so I've added updated ROMs for the regular 64K and 128K game that includes a title screen edit. The 32K roms (moved to the spoiler section) are condensed versions of the 64K rom. They are missing the buildings and missile silos from levels 2 & 3 and there is no flag at the end of level 3. So, I've uploaded 128K versions of the latest color changes. The 128K roms are the same as the original 64K roms, but doubled so they will work with the prosystem emulator (which has problems with 64K roms). HammR25
The first time I ran the game all the tan things were green on the real thing. After my 7800 sat while I was getting the pictures off my camera the dirt fixed itself and at the moment it works fine. It'sstill correct even after turning off my 7800 and turning it back on so I'll assume that was actually my 7800.
KevinMos3
Thanks for the feedback. I was especially curious about how the F chroma values (the "tan" colors) look on a 7800, because on a 2600 they can sometimes have green hue. I've noticed that a couple of my TVs show slightly different colors when I first turn them on. For example, one TV shows the slight color variations in the garage in the opening screen of my Double Dragon hack when first powered on, but after a few minutes, the orange & brown colors blend together. Could it be your television causing the color change you experienced? NOTE: 64K rom fixed and added to first post.

KevinMos3
Wow, I didn't realize how out-dated the ROMs were. I thought I uploaded the new title screen a long time ago, but was mistaken... so I've added them to the first post.
CPUWIZ
Kevin, unlike your Activision hacks, this can be put on cart, for a long time by now. I was just pointed to this by someone a couple of days ago, here is the pudding (I have some more of these)... EDIT: May I also mention, this is far superior to the original. Nice work. The label was modified to match Marc's box, placing your credit at the top right, inside the yellow triangle. What is on these carts, is the latest version of the title screen and does not match the back of the box though.

Anyway, I've been wanting to do a run for about 2 years... I ordered the eproms (about 2 years ago), bought plenty of carts for shells (again, about 2 years ago), and have just been waiting on the boards (yep, for about 2 years). While my general attitude is to claim no credit for hacks, I'd appreciate if this went through me since I've already invested in it.
CPUWIZ
I sent you a PM, to get you hooked up with boards to make your run a reality. Shame you have not been paying attention to the 7800 hardware scene in the last 2 years. The basic bankswitch board to run this game was done about 2 years ago. I've made other, more powerful boards since then, even one that can handle a POKEY at a non-standard address (also has other fancy features, like saving and copy protection etc.).

The links above still work for me. You got me thinking though -- I bought a couple hundred old carts several years ago for making runs of this and other games. They are in storage and I've not really had the heart to sacrifice them. I still have the EPROMs. If I get an stl file for a 3D printed cart, I could see what the cost would be to do it that way with custom colored shells.

Yeah, I think I and others might be interested in that! Maybe a different colored shell for the midnight v. color versions! I saw there is a 128K and a 64K but looks like the 64K versions would be for the cart then from reading above. Let me know if you really would do a run, otherwise I'll contact Al with the bins and labels in this post.
KevinMos3
You have me interested in this again. I’m going to try printing some shells at the library and see how they turn out and how much they’ll cost (they charge by the hour). Their selection of colors is lacking, but I know they have green (kind of a lime shade), silver (which doesn’t turn out as cool as you’d think), dark blue (which could be suitable for the Midnight variant), medium gray, and of course black. There are a few other colors (like red and yellow), but I can’t think of any that would be appropriate. I’d like to order my own colors, but the printer they have that does a decent job takes an uncommon size. All the colors I like on amazon would only work with their printer that does a really crappy job. KevinMos3
I've done two 3D prints of different shell designs so far. One won't work for larger PCB 7800 games, and the other requires a lot of work to make it acceptable. Both took roughly 5 hours to print which is also not good for anything more than a very small run. I'm going to try some different settings to see if I can get a better print with less work afterward.

KevinMos3
Yeah, the 3D prints I tried so far did not turn out in a way I would be satisfied with at all. Also, the library where I was printing them is underground, so when the weather got colder and rain more frequent, it made any 3D prints other than tiny ones impossible for now, due to the humidity. As an example, I tried several times to print a shell for a retrotink (which is smaller than a 2600/7800 shell). It wouldn't even print that without major warping. I'll give it another go when the weather warms back up and that building is less humid.
