Atari the Jedi
So I've got a 7800 first in my life and one of the controllers doesnt appear to work well, I like tinkering and fixing the 5200 sticks (Sort of a sick habit) are the 7800 sticks as easily fixable.? AtariBrian
directional problem ?
jaybird3rd
7800 ProLine joysticks are much easier to fix than the 5200 joysticks; Atari/GCC went back to dome switch technology, so there's just the four domes for the directionals and another two for the side buttons. The problem could also be a bad cable.
colecocara
but to get new domes, you can order them from Best. but he has a 20 dollar minimum
mmervine
If you order from Best, you might also want to pick up a set of the Euro CX78 Joypads.
gorfcadet
Just get Ax to build you a set of 7800 Nes pads. They are awesome! Look up his thread in the marketplace.... can't reccomend his work enough. The nes pads make the 7800 feel like a completely different system. NIKON
Proline controllers have a nasty habit of breaking the dome switches...just invest in another controller because the money you will spend on fixing the proline will out cost the price of another reliable controller. As much as you prolly want to keep original..next to the 5200 controller the proline was the second worst controller Atari made.
Charlie_
All you have to do is use a razor to cut three lines around the dome that will allow you to fold back the contact. (Common sense on what three sides. You don't want to disconnect it from the layer if plastic its in.) When folded back clean as you would any contact. Then, lay the dome back down and place scotch tape over it to keep it flush. Fixed.
Rex Dart
Just use a sega controller if the game you're playing only needs one button.
