Are you asking for repair tips?

The aluminum foil dot trick is very effective. Basically, use a paper punch to create a bunch of dots from a sheet of foil, then use a small dot of superglue on the non-shiny side to secure to each and every carbon dot on the 5200 controller buttons. Allow glue to dry good for about 1/2 hour before reassembling and your controller buttons will work good as new.

As for the eraser technique, be careful because older flex circuits can be brittle with age. If you accidentally crack a trace, all is lost. I actually recommend a light spraying of the entire flex circuit with Deoxit or Radio Shack electronic parts cleaner over the eraser technique for that reason.

BTW: If either controller pot isn't functioning quite right, just spray a good amount of parts cleaner solution down into the pot stem, rotate back and forth a few times, and your problems should be solved.

Nice find to pick up 5200 controllers at Goodwill.
