+grips03
I made a twin stick today for Robotron. Stick on left (moves the guy) plugs into controller port 1, stick on right (fires) plugs into controller port 2. I also added 1 button to (re)start the game off of port 1. No 620 ohm resistors are needed as only one button is needed with this game and it can wire like a 2600 controller with common ground. Also any left handers play this game with a twin stick, if yes do you prefer to shoot with left or right stick? I've been toying with the idea of using a single stick and double wire to both controller ports. This would make the guy shoot the way he is facing automatically. This would also make it so he only shoots in the direction. Has anyone tried this to see if they could get a higher score?
+Allan
Pretty cool. I'd love to try playing 7800 Robotron with two sticks. It's great on the 5200 with the controller holder. Allan
bennybingo
I play Robotron 2084 on the 7800 with the Battlestation II controller...IMHO, twin stick is the only way to play the game!!!
Jinks
I use duct tape and two stock prolines. Works perfectly. Those controllers are not good for much anyways.. Edited November 19, 2012 by Jinks

Hydro Thunder
I use two of the Euro Gamepads with the screw-in thumbstick on each, and it works _really well_. I'd love to get my hands on that Battlestation II though.
+save2600
When I had a 7800, Robotron played extremely well with 2 2600 joysticks and the Spy Hunter coupler.
+grips03
I tested single stick dual wired and its works fine, but not as good as twin sticks, as you need to move to shoot and some times the enemies are too close to move. Twin sticks you get much higher score. I also tried to switch to left stick (shoot) and right stick (move) but this also does not work as well. I might order a new Hammond case as I think putting twin stick closer to top might be better. Right now I have them in middle of plastic (top to bottom) and as wide as the can go in the case (left to right). I'm using two Seimitsu LS-40 with LB-30 (30mm) ball top, and a single PS-14-D-N (24mm) screw in button. I'm using Sega Genesis controller cords, but if you have the Atari CX24 Proline cords those are better. The Atari gamepad (CX78) cords are too short and the plastic ends don't fit so good as they are kind of rubbery. adam242
The 8-bit computer version of Robotron comes with a holder for two CX40s. Should be a good solution for the 7800 as well.
Atariboy
I use two Archer brand 2600 compatible joysticks for this game from Radio Shack (They're the same thing as the Quick Shot by Spectravision, I believe). They have suction cups on their bases so it works out well for this game when playing at a desk. AtariLeaf
Two Wico's on a good solid surface work fantastic.

That's what I use, works pretty well. They are still available new from some US Atari specialists

Classic Pac
One gamer once told me he built something out of wood to hold both controllers steady.
