captcapcom
I just found a copy of Zaxxon for the 5200, and when I play it, I can't go left. All other controls work fine, just won't go left. I checked the controller on other games, and left works on them. Is it the cart? I know it was kinda hard to get In the system....
+DamonicFury
It's not the cart. Had the same issue when I got Zaxxon... It's apparently an especially finicky game. I think you'll need to open the 5200 and tweak the calibration pot. Do a search of threads in this forum for details on this procedure. sqoon
With 5200 some games are more finicky when it comes to controller inputs. Popeye and Gyruss come to mind. I agree that fine tuning the internal controller calibration pot may do the trick.
+Cafeman
I tried Zaxxon with 2 stock controllers and couldn't get either to work well. Couldn't go up / down.
captcapcom
Ahh... I opened up the system and saw where to adjust. I was hesitant since all my other games work great. I don't want to lose functionality in everything else....
+Cafeman
I've never opened my system, but I've taken apart the controllers and adjusted them several times. Let us know the results, if you do it. I always use Missile Command - try to center to cursor then put the controller back together like that. Popeye is another that is really picky - can't get Popeye to climb the stairs sometimes! But frankly I just use my Masterplay and a Genesis controller for these problematic control games. The potentiometer has to be tweaked just right to get the varaible speed in both directions. You can even set the adjustment while the controller is plugged in running the game, just have care as to not short out anything.
