AtariLeaf
Ok here's a couple of pics. I red circled the switches to make them easier to see. I would touch the probes to each solder point on the switch and push the button. No beeps. This is with the board plugged and powered or not. But touching those points did activate the buttons as I showed in my video so I am getting a signal from the GTIA to the buttons am I not? I tried the multimeter on a second XEGS where, again, the buttons do work and again, no beeps from the multimeter. I did contact Brad at Best Electronics and he said the switches are $2 each so I'll order a few and have them soldered on. I figure for the price it's worth a shot. +DrVenkman
There are three connection points for each of those momentary switches. Which two pins are you measuring? Also, try your meter set to diode mode, as FJC recommends, not current mode - one setting clockwise from where you've got it set.

AtariLeaf
I think I figured it out. I followed the trace from the one solder point to the other solder point on the other end of that trace. When I placed the probes on those two points I got the beeps from all 4 switches. I was just touching the two solder points on each side of the switch, which I guess was incorrect
AtariLeaf
I'm going to order some switches from Best but I need to order ten to meet the minimum order requirements. Any chance these switches will also work in a 7800?
AtariLeaf
Well I ordered 10 switches so I'll have extra. Since I have two XEGS's I'll have some back ups in case things go awry on the second unit. That one however has other issues so we'll see. Guest
bump Has anyone 3D printed new buttons for the XEGS? Having different color options would be nice.
Judas-Prime
I recently, as in just now tonight, replaced my XEGS button switches with these 11mm micro switches I got from Aliexpress. They are the exact height of the stock buttons, are readily available, easy to install and work a treat. I have 16 switches leftover after fixing my XEGS, so if anyone needs switches let me know, no charge. Either that or you can buy your own from Aliexpress. After all the help I got getting a new Bios Chip, I felt obligated to pass this info along to help out the next person. Pay it forwards and all that ...ya know?
