dino999
I have a four port and two port 5200. Which chips, ram, etc, can be swapped from the four port to the two port? I remember reading the two port has some incompatibilities with some games (I have no idea which games). Obviously there was a BIOS change since there are two less controller ports, but if all chips were swapped from the four to the two-port, would everything work ok? ApolloBoy
IIRC almost all of the chips can be swapped over with no problems, including the BIOS.
Kr0tki
The BIOS change had no relation to the dropping of two controller ports - it was a part of a process of releasing a PAL version of the 5200 (which never happened). Early two-port units contained the old BIOS, so yeah, you can swap the BIOSes to make your two-port fully compatible.
dino999
Great, thanks. All the RAM chips are interchangeable as well, correct?
