New BBS door game!

Hey all... Posting this to all boards and lists...

With help from the SysOp and Co-SysOp of the Heatwave BBS, I have a new game up in the game section of the BBS. It's officially titled BaseBall and is now available to play.

You control a team of allstars and you play a 9 inning (or more) game against another team of all time greats. You select how you want to approach each at bat, the score is kept per inning and a simple base path is there on screen so you can visually see your players on base.

You can view the matchups in order to determine how you want to approach the at-bat... If your pitcher is at the plate, you may want to lay down a bunt to advance the runners because the likelihood of a pitcher hitting a triple or home run is very low.

Hop on to heatwave today and give it a go!!! Feedback is most welcome, guys!

Playing now. Had no runners on base but it told me runners on 2nd and 3rd advance.

I lost 11-5. It was 4-4 and then they lit me up in the top of the 8th.

BOX SCORE

************************

* RUNS * HITS * STK-OUT*

************************

AWAY* 11 * 16 * 9

************************

HOME* 5 * 12 * 5

************************

Some minor space formatting issues there...

As far as that "Runners on second and third advance" thing... It was a bug I thought I had squashed. Damn....

We're you able to check the matchups okay?

I had a thought that WHIP vs. OPS might be confusing for non-baseball lovers... Im not a sabremetrics guy, but those REALLY are the best matchup stats as opposed to Batting average vs. ERA.

One little quirk that I probably shouldn't mention.....well, damn. I guess I won't be giving up too much here if I tell ya.... I use this, so might as well give it up. :) If you need a run with less than two outs and a man on third, bunt. You're guaranteed to advance runners at the cost of an out. I won a game last night, 6-5 in the bottom of the 9 because I was down 4-5 with no outs. Bunted twice to score my base runners who were in scoring position, won on a walk off sacrifice bunt. :)

That's the only unconditional play in the game... You can always advance runners with a bunt, but it costs you an out.

Maybe I shouldn't have shared that piece of the code. :) Happy bunting, gentlemen!
