What is the hardest to find Imagic game?

Recommended Posts

Well, Truckin' is no game for everyone, but its awesome in its genre. I dont know if any other Intellivision game is complex like Truckin. Love it or hate it, thats a matter of personal taste, but there is no question that Truckin is a great game, even if you dont like it ;)

I also have problems to enjoy games like Truckin', but the high quality is undeniable.

@ Seth

If you need a digital copy of the manual from Truckin let me know. I would like to help you to play the game and its really hard (if not impossible) to play it without the instruction booklet.

That would help alot man. I put the game in and have no clue on what to do.lol

Going only from memory, but I'd categorize as strategy / sim. You needed to plan your routes, etc. to be successful iirc. The best times were staying up waaaaay too late and crashing the truck ... for some reason that seemed hilarious. Weren't there drunk drivers and ghost trucks too?

I honestly do not know any other 80's platform that has trucking across the nation as it's theme...nope, Truckin' is the only one. So, it would be difficult to have that game as the top in any category...except difficult to understand...lol.

If there is not even one other game with a similar theme there is at least one category top: Innovation! But at least you can compare it to other economy simulation games. If you dont like it its okay, but try to take a impartial look at the game and you'll see its qualities. You dont have to like it, but its wrong to call it bad.

Its the same with games like Shadow of the Colossus or Shenmue later. Expecially Shenmue was boring as hell for me, I finally sold it, but its a good game anyway, just not my cup of tea.

It's not that the game is bad. I just feel that it was too much of a task for the Intellivision. I tip my hat to the guys at Imagic for taking on such a task and creating such a game, but this game would have favored more on something like Commodore 64, where at least there was more memory storage...

I took more than an impartial look at the game. I was dying to get this game for 10 years, until I managed to find a CIB version of it. When it arrived in the mail, I was so happy to finally have it in my hands, overlays and all. So, imagine my surprise when I only managed to get about 10 minutes of gameplay before I finally had enough...

If I want strategy, I'll pop in Treasure of Tarmin, Tower of Doom, or Swords and Serpents...all much better than Truckin'...

Most times all I did while playing was figure out which was was which and get hit head on constantly...which does not constitute fun...lol.

Fathom is the hardest to find. Loose its not easy, but CiB is really rare. But Safecracker is uncommon too, so its much easier than Fathom, but not easy at all. There is a Safecracker on Ebay.it right now, but it costs 40€, too expensive, especially because it only has one overlay.

Also not easy to get: Truckin (the map is missing often), Dracula, White Water and Tropical Trouble. But these games arent really rare.

The hardest one for me was white eater cib. But then Jasonlikes INTV had been hoarding them and decided to send one to the silo :)

The only other trucking game I know is Eighteen Wheeler for the Dreamcast; which is about 20 years later and is essentially Crazy Taxi but with trucks. :)

There are many Truck Simulator games. Just one example: Euro Truck Simulator 2:

The 2 is a hint that there was a predecessor, but there also is a successor: Euro Truck Simulator 3! I am pretty sure there are more games which show you how Truckin would look like today.

If you get into an accident, do you get the realistic first person perspective of exchanging insurance information with other motorists? :D

And what's with the porn music?
