WIZZARD77
I'm looking for a new TV but nothing has s-video anymore. I see s-video to hdmi converters on amazon. My question is have you guys had any experience with these and if so is one brand better than the other? I'm basically looking to hook up my s=video modded SNES, Genesis, 2600, ect. SoundGammon
Haven't tried one of those. But what I got used on E-Bay was a Samsung DVD recorder model DVD-R135 that has a HDMI output that upscales to 1080i if needed. Works great for me. Also has component output too. Has s-video and composite input. You could probably use a switcher for the input.

+SpiceWare
I've been wondering about that too. I have seen S-Video to Component converters that might work on a new TV. Edited August 16, 2013 by SpiceWare
Rex Dart
I've been wondering about that too. I have seen S-Video to Component converters that might work on a new TV. I bet it would work well, considering how close s-video and YPbPr already look on SDTVs. Only thing I would worry about would be if my next TV will even offer YPbPr component inputs. WIZZARD77
I picked up one of these http://www.amazon.com/Composite-S-video-Audio-HDMI-Converter/dp/B003NS0UUQ and it looks great, but there is a bit of controller lag. I also tried a phillips dvd recorder I picked up cheap at the pawn shop but it has terrible upscaling , very blurry, and has even more lag.
