crash
Hi, Can anyone describe what the color adjustments potentiometer in the 7800 affect? For example, is it saturation, or does it alter saturation and brightness? I'm asking because I have a dark picture and uneven color, and wonder if this adjustment may help. Trebor
The pot adjustment - top one closest to the cartridge port (The one below it is for 2600 colors) will most noticeably affect the amount of blue whether it leans stronger towards red (Causing more pinkish tones) or if leaning towards green, causing what should be strong greens to look more blue-green, if not set properly. It is highly sensitive. It only takes a very small, light turn to causes a shift. If your uneven color falls under this area (Amount of blue against red or green) then the pot adjustment will help. It will not help with a dark picture though. If you are viewing the 7800 on a HDTV, the colors at best with have browns leaning more green with a dark picture. Many using a 7800 on a HDTV have to crank up the brightness, as well as adjust the tint/hue, making it lean much more heavily towards the red, to come closer to the colors on a CRT. Notice the difference of the same 7800 system here on a CRT and then on a LCD - both at default settings: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/206923-ntsc-color-palette-crt-tv-default-tuning-varieties/page-2?do=findComment&comment=2699592 Good luck with the adjustments - but you may want to try your 7800 on a CRT before making any internal (pot) change if you decide to go that route. crash
Hmmm. It looks fine on one LCD TV, but dark like your pictures on the other, or with uneven color (depending on how it is attached). I'm going to try an S-Video amplifier with some adjustments on it to see if that will help. Thanks
