Problems With The Music And Sound Editor

I decided to start experimenting with the music for my game, and I'm running into a problem.

 

I try to start the music and sound editor under the VBB menu, and it refuses to do so, saying something is missing.

 

I do a quick search, and find the recommendation to put in a fresh sound file. I download VisualbB.soundlib.dll and put it in the VBB folder.

 

Still nothing. Here's the error message I get:

Can anyone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? (P.S. I accidentally clicked the score editor (I see no reason to use it yet) and I'm getting a similar message.)

Probably a version mismatch. The only other time I saw something like that was a guy running Windows under virtualization. I would create a new folder and try this version in my blog. I think it's the latest I've posted.

I have the same problem with the same error message. I tried downloading the latest builds/versions from the links posted and I still get the same error. Perhaps there is something deeper at work (or not) here.

This might be a stupid question, but you guys did remember to unzip it, right?

Peter G sent me a zipped copy of his folder. It worked fine on my machine so it's something local that is blocking it. Never figured out what it was.

Did he try running it as an administrator or running it in compatibility mode for an older operating system?

I just tried running it as an administrator and no dice. I am running Windows 7 perhaps there is some connection there. I'm not even sure what the program looks like, the Music and Sound Editor has actually never worked for me, no matter which build of Visual bB I had at the time, it has always come up with an error code.

Did you try compatibility mode with different Windows versions such as XP to see if that would make it work?

I tested it with XP Service Pack 2 & 3 and Windows 2000 - No dice. None of the Vistas work either.

To fix his problem with the Music and Sound Editor, he had to install the SDK (whatever that is).

I run Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I've never had to use compatibility mode. Zip up you directory and PM it to me. I can at least confirm that it's something unique to your machine.
