+grips03
I'm making an Atari 5200 digital arcade stick with keypad and rapid fire. Its based on the NeoGeoX controller with a different PCB, buttons, etc. It connects directly to 5200 using a deep socket db15 cable. It looks like the Intellvision and Colecovision controllers I make. Its powered directly from the 5200. I've tested pcb rev3 and it works well. Rev4 is like Rev3, but a little cleaner. Rev5 allows any normally open (microswitch) joystick to be used. More details after the holidays. thegamezmaster
Just hope it's affordable for people without deep pockets. But I do understand both sides of something like this.

Lynxpro
Let me know if more become available, please! Ditto. Would it help if we provided the SNK Controller?
+grips03
Ditto. Would it help if we provided the SNK Controller? yes, it would, as I have run out of NGX controllers. Either the NGX or original Neo Geo AES controller work. I'll have 3 more PCBs around Jan 25-26th. I can return the old guts of the controller to you if you go this route. Price would then be $110, not $160.
+grips03
Directions to wire grips03 Atari 5200 arcade controller PCB Board size and mounting 1.66 inches wide x 2.95 inches tall Right side mounting holes are 2.75 inches center to center Rapid Fire - only needed if you plan to use rapid fire Fuse = 125ma - or something around this range, circuit does not draw this much power, this is just to protect in case you do short power to ground Rapid fire cap = 1uf Rapid fire IC = NA555P from TI for rev3 and rev4 pcb where it shows 10k I put a 1/4 watt 1.5K resistor where it shows 47k I put a 1/4 watt 150K resistor this makes the rapid fire timing awesome for Defender and Moon Patrol Direction Resistors I use (4) 560k and (2) 15k 1/4 watt resistors - other values close to these may work as well, depending on R132 pot adjustment on the console itself. Pete's cart helps to adjust. bottom right side pads (from bottom working up) A = primary button = bottom side button B = secondary button = top side button GND = other side of A and B buttons C=primary button with rapid fire D = secondary button with rapid fire RA = other side of C and D buttons - RA is short for rapid NC = no connection middle right side pads (from bottom working up) U = UP = normally open D = Down = normally closed V = other side of Up and Down microswitches L = Left = normally open R = Right = normally closed H = other side of Left and Right microswitches NC = no connection top right side pads (from bottom working up) S = Start P = Pause R = Reset COM = other side of Start, Pause, Reset buttons NC = no connection top 15 pads connect to Atari 5200 (from left to right) 1 to 1, 2 to 2, 3 to 3, 4 to 4 etc. all the way to 15 I use YS-006 (search ebay) db15 deep socket cable, it's color code is below: pin 1 = brown pin 2 = red pin 3 = orange pin 4 = pink pin 5 = yellow pin 6 = green pin 7 = aqua pin 8 = blue pin 9 = purple pin 10 = gray pin 11 = white pin 12 = black pin 13 = brown / white pin 14 = red / white pin 15 = black / white bottom 7 pads - keypad (from left to right) Rev3 pcb = pin 2 7 3 8 1 5 6 Rev4 pcb and above = pin 6 5 1 8 3 7 2 the matrix keypad pin numbers at the bottom match the atari 5200 pin out for the keypad Sparkfun.com 3x4 matrix keypad = P/N COM-08653 from left to right if looking at the back of the keypad = 6 5 1 8 3 7 2 bottom and side pads are sized for JST-XH connectors here is a reference to wire them: http://web.archive.o...h/5200cont.html Edited January 19, 2014 by grips03
