Use daisy chain type wire. No Connection (NC) - do not wire Right and other buttons upper right side JST-XH connector (from the bottom and working up) B - wire this to right button, B/2 C - wire this to button C/3 D - wire this to button D/4 KP1- wire this only if you want another Keypad 1 button, I wire this to select on NeoGeo controller KP* - wire this only is you wan another Keypad * button, I wire this to start on NeoGeo controller Common - wire this common to the other side of the above buttons. Use daisy chain type wire. No Connection - do not wire Colecovision DB9 cable Top Connector with 9 pins wires to Colecovision cable Color code is for Coleco brand cable from SAC or standard controller. On Rev2 boards I added color code for Retro-bit as well pin 1 to 1, 2 to 2, etc. Pin 7 and Pin 9 are not used, I solder them anyway - just to keep wire in place Coleco color code: 1 = Brown 2 = Red 3= Orange 4=Yellow 5=Green - common 6=Blue 7= NC 8= Gray- GND 9= NC RetroBit Color code: 1 = Brown 2 = Orange 3=Gray 4=Black 5=Red - common 6=Yellow 7=Blue - NC 8=White - GND 9=Green - NC Keypad (KP-12) bottom of board connectors connect to a common ground type keypad, please note keypad uses common signal wire, not the GND wire. from: left JST-XH right JST-XH 3 6 9 # 2 5 8 0 1 4 7 * NC COM NC = no connection COM = Common Mounting Holes on right are 2.75 inches center to center, from left to right 1.625 inches PCB is 1.79 inches wide and 2.9 inches tall Parts to order as the do not come with the bare PCB: (34) 1N4148 small signal diodes, Digikey.com p/n = 1N4148FS-ND qty 50 is $2.56 KP-12 keypad - $4.95 at the site below http://www.allelectr...N-KEYPAD/1.html DB9 cable - Retro-Bit Sega Genesis extension cable works well, ~$10 on eBay wiring, can use JST-XH 6S cables (qty 4) - these are 7 pin. 2 for keypad, 1 for direction, 1 for additional buttons If you go this route then buy qty (4) 455-2240-ND from Digikey.com - qty 4 is $1.72 I like Alpha wire 26awg from Mouser.com 602-3049-100-01 / 3049 WH005 Quick Connects (QC) crimp tool is needed, such as Hozan P-706 Open Barrel Crimper - Amazon sells order QC connectors from focusattack.com order min 12 .110 - these are 1 time use (buttons) order min 8 .187 - these are 1 time use (joystick) Sanwa QC covers, order qty 12 .110 and qty .187 - these are reusable cut wire to length, solder wire, crimp QC to wire, solder QC to wire, install hard cover (Sanwa brand) Edited January 17, 2014 by grips03 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
