eightbit
Hi folks! Today I found a 21inch HUGE NEC Multisync monitor on craigslist with manuals for $10. It is in excellent working condition. My plan was to use it for everything (all of my old consoles, VCR, as a TV, and the VGA for a Minimig eventually) but where do I start? It has two inputs. BNC and VGA. The BNC is R-G-B-VS-HS/CS. Can one of these be converted to standard composite RCA video to connect say a NES or other standard composite video device? I have owned multisync displays in the past, but nothing with BNC connections before. I hope there is an easy way to bring composite video to it. Any advice is greatly appreciated! eightbit
Well, I'll answer my own question. I am going to need a scaler to go from composite to VGA. A nice investment. I might have to hold off for now
Osgeld
yep according to the service manual the slowest line rate it can do is 27khz, you need 15 for NTSC (nevermind you need something to convert ntsc to rgb)
eightbit
I have two scalers in my sights for under $80. I just hope they do a good enough job to allow all of my composite devices (VCR, various game systems) to look decent on it. It's nice because you can flip between BNC and VGA. I can use the VGA for the scaler and run my composite switch into it, and the BNC to VGA to a minimig one day soon. It is a BEAST of a monitor. Just hope I can fit it in the tiny mancave
Osgeld
hope your desk / table/ whatever is strong enough, service manual claims 80lbs! they are sweet monitors though, I snagged one a long time ago, I got it home and it bowed my desk lol so I took it back Edited January 11, 2014 by Osgeld
eightbit
You are not kidding. You should have seen me lug this up a flight of stairs. Hardcore and heavy. But, very nice picture!
