Removing RF modulator from PAL Atari 600 XL?

Memory fuzzy on that one... I think it might be Composite only on the monitor port like 800XL, the procedure to put it right should be similar to it although of course the pickoff point is probably at a different location. Adding it in is easy, just a resistor inline with some insulated wire, surround with heatshrink and connect to the pickoff point + solder pad for the monitor port.

RF mod - I've not done one on the computers but did a 7800 which is installed in similar fashion.

The sticking point there was the somewhat large amount of solder that has to be gotten out before you can bend the tabs back and pull it off.

What worked for me was using a largish flat-blade soldering iron, then suck + wick the mess away.

IIRC, there's also a procedure to further improve video by getting rid of composite and only having S-Video, worth a look around for.

I've also done one of the Super Video mods on my 800XL, wasn't exactly happy with the results. There's so many conflicting ideas around and on top of that, what works well for NTSC isn't necessarily the case for PAL.
