Reaperman
For my birthday this year, I decided to improve my A8 setup. My '8-bit computer' desk had gotten overgrown with an NES, DVR and 32-inch hdtv, and I never really never liked sharing a desk with commodore despite trying really hard to like it. (commodore is still hard) I wanted to get back to basics--make it feel clean but still a bit 1980's. I've also been lurking on that gui thread forever, and wanted to make sure I was ready for it and other mouse software with a properly modern adapter. At the heart of it, my 800XL setup is still very standard and hasn't changed much since what is possibly my first post on AA (here). I've got a 256k Atarimax ram upgrade, from the last owner, which doesn't seem to like to work with any software over 130k, the worst possible 800XL keyboard, and the excellent SIO2SD. There are tons of fancy new upgrades I'm trying to wrap my head around, but I currently emulate floppies and run 130k software--that's already living the good life IMO. My setup's still not quite complete. I'd still like an sio2sd case (wtb thread), and I need a much better scaler for that monitor. Sadly, the desk isn't quite large enough for a 13" crt to go on there, but there is a composite splitter/amp behind the monitor shooting off to a 19" crt and my 102" projection screen. Somehow I'll force myself to manage... Here's a shot from when I first put the desk together (from my old thread 'commodore is hard'). I like the new clean look a lot more, but the 'piles of junk' desk is perhaps a lot more authentic. +Ripdubski
I like the new retro clock. Makes all the difference. Did you ever have to seperate the C64 and 800XL for fighting?
TheNameOfTheGame
Oh yea, that looks really neat and clean. Looks a lot better since you move the breadbox back to the kitchen Hey where did you get that awesome Atari mouse pad? I want one too!!! And what is that microsoft mouse being used for? Good job on the remodel!
kenjennings
Where did the Atari mousepad come from? Modern retroware, or something ancient ?
TheNameOfTheGame
Errp! Never mind the question about the Microsoft mouse. I just saw the mouse cursor on the screen
Reaperman
Mousepad came from here. It ships slowly from China, and seems to use an image 'borrowed' from here. Overall the quality is pretty good, though. I'd thank China a lot more than Etsy for that, however.
