davidcalgary29
The following codes can be used to access the first 46 levels of the "Match" option in Loopz 1 XTBQ 6 JRNP 11 LSFH 16 ZMWK 21 BCQX 26 DGPR 31 KXQC 36 BZKG 41 GNPW 46 VJLF You may note that these are the codes from the PC version; other console codes (such as, surprisingly, the Amiga codes) don't seem to work. TheBizDude
Thanks for the codes, man! Loopz is definitely one of the 'hidden treasures' of the Lynx. It's done by the same people that brought us Blockout - so it's decent. Very amazing that this title never saw the light of day. It's also the ONLY 'complete' proto out there. Well, "Road Riot 4WD" is pretty much "complete", as well, and I heard that "Lode Runner" was finished as well. I've also heard that "Relief Pitcher" is about "90%" complete, but until we get a ROM image I suppose we'll never really know. I agree with you about "Loopz", though. It's an amazing game! TheBizDude
Yeah, you're right Road Riot is pretty complete - probably moreso than what Loopz is - my bad. I could almost say that Marlboro Go! is complete - if you count a single level game as being complete. It's only a glorified BMX from California Games, but the music and graphics are top notch. Are there any vendors selling PCB version of Lode Runner? I'd like to get my hands on a copy!
davidcalgary29
No version of "Lode Runner" is currently on the market. I've heard that the original source code was lost in a hard drive crash, but I'm sure that there's a proto cart floating around somewhere. It'd be nice to get a ROM image distributed, though, as it would allow everyone to enjoy a good game.
TheBizDude
Yeah, it is a sweet game. I've played the Handy version. I don't understand why any game available for Handy isn't easily burned onto a ROM - why is this?
Albert
Yeah, it is a sweet game. I've played the Handy version. I don't understand why any game available for Handy isn't easily burned onto a ROM - why is this? I have a batch of Lynx boards I can use to make carts, but I haven't explored this very far. I'm sure many binaries can be burned onto an EPROM, I just haven't had time to experiment. I will be doing this soon. ..Al

Very amazing that this title never saw the light of day. It's also the ONLY 'complete' proto out there. I thought the Lynx-version of Loopz was developed by Handmade Software. Sometimes in the past I was said that Telegames would release Loopz. And Eye of the Beholder is AFAIK also complete.

Mendon
What is the status/condition of Eye of the Beholder? I've heard that its floating around but never heard how much of it was complete or even if it was playable or not. Mendon

Mendon That topic was canvassed here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...ht=eye+beholder I understand that most of the proto carts out there don't contain a finished version of the game. There may be a very few carts that have a more advanced version of the game, but this may just be a rumour.
TheBizDude
So what't the deal with being able to burn PCB ROMs. I understand the files that handy run are called .img's. Is this a binary or hex image? I would imagine it being hex, and people just say binary synonomously? Why do you need the source code to burn it onto the ROM? Supply of PCB/ROMs is not the limiting factor. If a ROM has a UV window, then it can be erased and re-programmed. The 4/8Meg boards are a different story. If enough people showed interest (pre-order?) maybe we could get Lance at Video61 to do a small run of these coveted 4/8M boards. I'd like to see what all the hype is about behind EOB and Relief Pitcher!
+karri
There is nothing special about a Lynx PCB cart or being able to burn ROM's. The code is in pure binary. The Handy images just have a small header that can be stripped away. The source code is only needed if you want to develop the game further. -- karri
