StanJr
I am LOVING that E.T. is finally getting some love. Also been a LONG time since I've played SW:TAG! These should be two really great weeks!
Gorfy
Yay, E.T. One of my favorites Never played the other two, but looking forward to trying them out
jblenkle
I'm watching a documentary on Netflix called Atari - Game Over. It is mostly about the legend of the E.T. carts being buried in that landfill. Some guy is digging up the site...I know there is a thread someplace here on AtariAge about the E.T. game. I never recall hearing how the dig turned out though.
MoomUnit
I like E.T. well enough, but I always play Game #3, the one without the annoying humans.Aliens is a better Pac-Man than Pac-Man is. Star Wars just doesn't feel right without the arcade cabinet controls.
Dauber
I tried ET...I just CANNOT SOLVE IT. AT ALL. The damn FBI agent keeps knocking the phone away. arrghhh...and more often than not the power to call the rescue ship is located on that screen with the Greek buildings (whatever it's called) and because usually the FBI agent or the scientist is there, you can't call the rescue ship!!! arrghhh.... Posted scores for Alien and Star Wars. (Just can't get a handle on the up and down moving in the opposite direction while the left and right move in the correct direction...yeah, the arcade controller is much more intuitive.) Hyperboy
93,511 I like aliens, of course it's a pac-man clone but with a few tricks up its sleeve like flame throwers and moving power pods. It gets pretty frantic and just as in pac-man the aliens in later levels don't give you a chance to destroy them before they turn deadly again. I looked at things through the eyes of the story teller and that made it more enjoyable than just playing it as a clone game. My mind/imagination is just as active now as it was as a kid and that adds so much to these games, It's like reading a book and playing it out in your head. I really feel bad for kids today that have games that literally leave nothing to the imagination. Have a great 2 weeks of sci-fi gaming my friends!
+KaeruYojimbo
Has anyone ever tried playing Star Wars with the Flight Commander or the Cosmic Command? I wonder if the controls would feel better with either of those?
TwentySixHundred
Nice selection of games, especially E.T as it brings back that nostalgia feeling. Played it alot as a child yet i was never that good, now it's time to complete it with a decent score.
S.BAZ
I need to throw a revenge-whooping on E.T. too it always frustrated me even though I kept trying to like it & beat it, to no avail.
+KaeruYojimbo
Alien - 45,147 Star Wars - 31,371 Far and away my best game of Star Wars ever. Either I turned a corner or got real lucky.
voodoo_chilly
I'm new to the STar Wars Arcade Game. Is this a final score of 12,986? what are the numbers below that mean? 060 and 08?
S.BAZ
Star Wars: 18,206 no idea about those numbers... my screen looked like this after game over. (not too familiar with this one yet.) this was immediately my favorite 2600 Star Wars game though, soon as I got it! doesn't quite stand up to the controls of the Arcade but considering the limitations i think Parker Bros actually pulled it off nicely. +Zeptari
I think the 08 is how many tower tops you had left to shoot off to get bonus points.
MoomUnit
I'm new to the STar Wars Arcade Game. Is this a final score of 12,986? what are the numbers below that mean? 060 and 08? The six-digit number is always your score (12,986). The other two numbers only appear during the middle scene where you shoot the white tops off of the towers. The second number starts at 10 and counts down to zero as you shoot towers--it's the number of towers remaining. The first number starts at 20 and counts up by 20--it's the number of points you would get for the next tower. (The most points you can get is 20 + 40 + 60 + 80 +100 + 120 + 140 + 160 + 180 + 200 = 1100) Somebody rolled this game to a million? D - A - M - N. MoomUnit
Monday night update:Alien - 27,865I feel I can improve on this considerably. Is there any point to the flamethrower? It seems pretty worthless.E.T. - 12,421I think this is the first time I actually beat Game #1. If that scientist grabs me two seconds before the spaceship comes again, I'm gonna throw something.Star Wars - 43,925Is there a pattern to the trench gates? I feel they come too fast to navigate by reaction alone, especially when they get to be double-wide.Somebody rolled this game to a million points? Damn.
StanJr
I've rolled SW: TAG, years ago. Once you learn the gate patterns, it gets MUCH easier. The space battle and death start towers are easy once you know what line to set your crosshairs on. I'm still amazed at how good this game is. Can I roll it again? Who can tell? I have two weeks. Here are my opening volleys: SW:TAG 077049 E.T. I'm not used to one save on this one, I'm used to marathon, so this is a great challenge. What is the right balance of getting it done fast and giving Elliot Reese's Pieces? That's the trick. 16694 Alien This thing is a beast. A great game that gets vicious. My personal best is 72K, so I have a long way to go. 30335 Great, great week!

I wonder if this page would help: randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-et-tips.html That page also has videos that might be helpful. E.T.I'm not used to one save on this one, I'm used to marathon, so this is a great challenge. What is the right balance of getting it done fast and giving Elliot Reese's Pieces? That's the trick. I also never really cared about the score in a single round since I can finish countless rounds. I can't seem to get more than 15 or 16 pieces of candy in every round I've played so far today and I run instead of walking (which eats up energy), so my high score for one round is only 14884:
