bohoki
think anybody is interested in some more pc joystick adapters with joysticks? i made this batch of adapters with ribbon wire i was thinking along the lines of 15 each for the controllers with adapters but the shipping is high cause they need to be in a box so 10 shipping the gamepads can ship for $5 or if someone just wants an adapter alone $10 shipped i also have a couple old crazy experiments with adapters with keypads made of micro switches but i do not really feel comfortable releasing them to the general public any questions comments
+save2600
Like the looks of that joystick in the upper right LEFT! PeeCee native? Be nice if it were say… a 7800 joystick!
bohoki
the upper right is called a pc mission i think it is made by interact a 7800 joystick is not analog and will not play starwars, gorf, superbreakout, kaboom, missile command and many other games loose enjoyability
+save2600
Sorry bohoki, idiotic dyslexia coming on… meant to say upper left. That looks like an Atari friendly stick begging to be modified for use with a 7800.

+wongojack
I bought one of these from Bohoki a while back. They are super easy to make, so if you want to try your hand at a "first" soldering project, you could buy one of these from him and then see how it was done to build your own. Forget about the Masterplay. Having one of these PC adapters, opens up the controller options for the 5200 to a huge variety of gameport controllers. This one is pretty awesome for example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MAKOPAD-PC-INTERACT-GAME-PAD-SV-234-NEW-IN-BOX-/231372221500?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35dedbec3c
Noah98
I'd be interested in a viable, cheap 5200 controller replacement. Edited May 19, 2015 by Noah98

ave1
Got mine in the mail today and found all the PC Joysticks and gamepads I had in the basement. These are the incompatible ones. Edited July 1, 2015 by ave1
ave1
... and, since my I am having trouble with uploading the picture via the Atariage uploader, here's a link to a picture showing the controllers which work fabulously: http://imgur.com/eLqdRXK I also tried this joystick out: http://imgur.com/blADGT2 I can control things with it but there are trim problems (everything steers toward the left and up)... and it seems that the Y and X axis trim knobs on the controller are not doing anything when turned clockwise or counterclockwise. So I have a feeling the joystick is defective and that one which isn't defective will actually work with the adapter on the 5200 I think I'll look for a non-defective one because it's a real gem. ave1
Alright, I remembered that I owned 4 PC gamepads, so I tried 'em out. My Gravis Gamepad Pro controller that is shaped like a PS1 controller (without analog sticks) doesn't work and neither does my Playstation-like Saitek P750. Fortunately, the other two work and I've attached a picture of them. One is a Thrustmaster knock-off of the U.S. Saturn gamepad (version 1) which- thanks to the way they designed the d-pad- actually is very responsive for playing 5200 Ms. Pac-Man among other games. The other gamepad in the picture has a removable thumbstick which complements the big size for anyone out there who likes a larger controller to grapple when gaming. So far I like the gamepads, but the joysticks are really what I prefer... especially the Gravis black and gray joystick (shown in yesterday's picture). Amityville315
Yeah, I've spent more time repairing the controllers than playing since I've acquired a 5200. Fast paced arcade styled games need quick response times to be enjoyable. I was playing Berzerk tonight and between the non-centering controller not allowing me to stop moving and the fire button deciding not to shoot randomly, I'm ready for other options It's a bummer really because they are good looking controllers - but the lack of functionality destroys the fun. If anyone wants to sell me two controllers with adapters, please message me. Looking for a few more games as well.
bohoki
i'm surprised your red button gravis is not working i suggest putting in missile command and while playing do a bunch of circles even turning the 5200 off then on again you know about the little centering screw holes they take quite a few turns to actually notice much difference unless lack of center is not the problem also with missile command if you notice any controllers have a constant jitter or movement that is pulsing some joysticks have the 555 auto fire chip activated all the time (suncom does this) so the only way to fix this is to disable the chip by opening up the controller and clipping pin 1 of the chip (no more autofire but at least you can play glad you are having fun you have quite a variety of sticks
ave1
The red button Gravis actually has only one problem- none of the fire buttons work. I got it at a thrift store, so I'm figuring it's defective or needs to be taken apart and cleaned. Maybe I'll try that this evening... thanks for the heads up. Yep, my controller collection is definitely large...
bohoki
did you switch the side switches? up is button 1 down is button 2 there should be 3 switches on the side it has a diagram on the bottom
ave1
Mine has no diagram at the bottom... I clicked the switch to a new position and it's working now- can't believe I missed that! Thanks for the advice, it is a nice controller.
bohoki
also if you rotate the big red wheel it changes the stick tension from limp to firm
ave1
Got it! Hey, if anyone here wants to try an unconventional controller on their 5200, this might be of interest: http://www.unitedgame.com/proddetail.php?prod=PC I am going to do a video review of it along with some of my other PC/5200 controllers on Youtube. The controller has a digital mode and an analog mode (involves rotating or tilting the top gamepad around), and I can confirm that both modes work great with the PC gameport/5200 adapter. Someone put some nice pics of it on an Ebay listing, so I'll just show you them from Imgur: http://imgur.com/Sr07JEw http://imgur.com/w2dxYYQ http://imgur.com/qL8d1C3 Edited July 3, 2015 by ave1
