vomitgreen
What's everyone's opinion on the MESS emulator? I'm having a heck of a time getting games to run properly on it. Some run, other don't and sometimes the graphics are scrambled.
Keatah
Since it's an ongoing work in progress some games will run, others will not. Some will partially run or not run correctly.
vomitgreen
Thanks for the response, Keatah. I'm just now returning to the EMU scene after 10+ years away. What I don't get is why Dan Borris' 5200 emulator from 15 years ago is better than the ones today. Or am I wrong? Maybe i have it configured wrong etc.
Keatah
Well it was/is very good and it IS what impressed you first back in the day. I think you should check out Altirra if you're interested in 5200 and 8-bit emulation.
7800
I think it's a mess.
Keatah
Its worse than microsoft software, certainly lives up to its name.
MrMaddog
Systems are hit or miss on MESS... 5200 emulation is bad cause of graphic glitches, missing top button and plain crashing out. Other Atari stuff like 2600 & 7800 are poerfect so go figure. Kat52 is the best one I've used.
scotty
I second Altirra. A bit hard to configure, as there are a LOT of options, but this thing ROCKS!
Keatah
When configuring emulators like such, it's kind of like going into showroom and speccing out your new car. In this case you're speccing out a virtual computer.
