10phoneman
I pick up two items yesterday at a yard sale The Atari 5200 redemption 7800 version and sean kellys multicart. My question is does the Atari redemption work on the sean kellys multicart? I couldn't get it to work My Atari 5200 console is a 2 port I tried the super pacman cartridge and the redemption adapter it work? Does any know of a place that repairs Atari 5200 controllers at a good price? Thank you in advance
BassGuitari
You found a Redemption and a Sean Kelly multicart at a yard sale? Did a collector pass away or something? As you probably know, Best Electronics will refurbish 5200 controllers but they aren't cheap (which isn't to say they're overpriced, mind you). Otherwise, you could try the tin foil dot trick to repair the keypads and fire buttons, as long as the flex circuit is still good. I did that with a couple of my controllers a couple of weeks ago and it's working out really well so far.
Amityville315
Save yourself some grief and get a refurbished controller from Best Electronics. Or saveca few bucks and just get the replacement buttons from them.
Charlie_
The redemption should work for most games. Do you have a 5200 controller plugged in for the buttons and a VCS or 7800 stick plugged in to control the game? The SK multicarts are known to go bad over time. Mine sure did... Do you have any other carts to try?
AtariBrian
How on earth did you find those at a garage sale and how much did you pay ?
10phoneman
The people running the yard sale had no clue to what there were selling. They kept asking me what an Atari 5200 was. The price for both items was very low. The had a lot of musical instruments and other items. No I don't have an a working 5200 controller plugged in for the buttons. I have one that has to be repair. I did plug in the redemption adapter 7800 with the Atari 7800 joystick it works on the super pac-man but no any game on the multicart. Charlie_
Sounds like it all works, but don't be surprised to find the multicart is not working. However they were made, they suffer from bit-rot. Is this a menu driven version of the multicart or does it have a row of dipswitches used to set the current game? You should be able to find a controller repair guide here in the forums. I'm not too far from Brooklyn. If you want to lend me the controller I can look it over. Give it the aluminum dots treatment, it should work for years and years if there is nothing physically broken inside.
10phoneman
It is the dipswitches. I was able to fix the problem with the artari 5200 controller. It works great. Thanks
