Sega Genesis Model 2 not working but power light comes on

I have a genesis model 2. I'm connecting via the composite video port. Right now when I hit the power switch, I get a black screen and nothing more. As far as I can tell the unit is clean and the caps look good. Any suggestions?

Maybe a bad cable? Try swapping out for a different cable and see if that works.

I would clean the cartridge slot, and make sure you're using a clean known-working game. I get a black screen when the game is dirty in many cases.

I'm only up in kennesaw and have a Gen-2 system that functions.

Try cleaning the cartridge slot and the game's edge connector.
