Magazine cover disk downloads - where?

Recommended Posts

Is there any place to download Atari magazine cover disks? Like Start, ST-Log, Computer, etc

I looked though my download links ans could not find any. Atarimania has all the Mags PDF but no disks that came with the mags.

I know it must be out there, but where?

Thanks

I think you may be bumping into the limit of what has been tracked down and preserved. The disks are probably out there somewhere in a basement or garage, hopefully someone will find them and rip them at some point.

For ST-Log try messaging or emailing Allan Higgins as he was looking for them a few years ago:

http://atariage.com/forums/topic/158143-st-log-subscribers-send-in-your-disks/

http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=18733

In this thread someone claimed to have found ST Log 32, 33, 35, and 36 - not sure if they ever sent them in to him:

If you do track them down, please share to preserve them ;)

Sorry, back again,

I could not find START Vol 2, No. 3

Anyone have this one?

And they only have 2 ST-Log cover disks, Where to look for for more

Thanks

This looks like the disk you are after...although the README.TXT inside looks like it references Vol 1, No 3.

I can't see these archived anywhere, some of them might be in forum posts but it would be great if you could preserve them:

  • Compute's Atari ST Disk Vol. 1 Issue 1
  • Compute's Atari ST Disk Vol. 2 No. 1 Issue 3
  • Compute's Atari ST Disk Vol. 2 No. 3 Issue 5
  • Compute's Atari ST Disk Vol. 2 No. 5 Issue 7
  • Compute's Atari ST Disk Vol. 2 No. 6 Issue 8
  • Compute's Atari ST Disk Vol. 3 No. 2 Issue 10
  • ST Log Issue #21
  • ST Log Issue #33
  • Start Vol. 2 Num. 2
  • Start Vol. 2 Num. 3 (existing file seems to be wrong in the archive)
  • Start Special Issue #3 Vol.2 Num. 6

If you have the time you could just rip them all- they are all rare enough that it doesn't hurt to have another copy, in case the other one is found to be corrupted etc.

  • 2 weeks later...
Smonson over at Atari-forum noticed that most STart coverdisks have been archived as single sided. This is a problem as they switched to a dual SS/DS format in November 1989, and the data on Side 2 of these disks has been lost: http://atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=29634

All archives that I could find are missing Side 2 from most disks, including TOSEC, http://www.atarimagazines.com/software/startsoftware.html and

http://www.planetemu.net/roms/atari-st-coverdisks

If anyone still has these November 1989 (Vol 4 Number 4) to 1991 coverdisks it would be great to try to save a double sided copy of them, or at least extract the information on them and save that.
