78001987
Just got one of these again. Had one when I was a kid and remember loving it. Still great, good feel, that big yellow button is awesome!
RJ
Yep we had a couple of them too. The button was slightly convex (rounded out, opposite of Atari button)
+Random Terrain
I probably had a couple of those over the years: I don't remember liking them more than regular Atari joysticks.
bradhig
We had more of those then I can remember. Dad knocked one out of my hand cause I didn't push the slider on the tv switchbox all the way to game.
Nutsy Doodleheimer
I have one of these controllers and I actually enjoy them. I like the 2600 joysticks more but the Gemsticks do get the job done.
BassGuitari
Most of the Gemsticks I've come across have been broken or nonworking in some way. Bad luck? I do actually have a new one in packaging that I'll probably just keep that way unless I happen upon some others. The packaging for these is weird, BTW; only half the controller is actually contained within the plastic bubble container and cardboard backing--the back half of the controller just sticks out the back, exposed. Strange. For actual playing, I just stick (haaaaaa!) with the CX40 anyway.
gilsaluki
I like my GemStick, but a rebuilt CX-40 with best gold contacts rocks.
BZachLaLonde
Yeah I have a couple Gemini sticks. I prefer them to the Atari ones I have, probably just cause those are in very worn condition. I agree the packaging is weird, too. I thought something had happened to the boxed one I have... +RichG1972
I found them not so much fragile per se, but the plastic/rubber part over the joystick handle almost always worked it's way out from under the retaining ring way easier than would happen with the CX-40's, I never had that problem with the CX-40's only the Gemsticks

chuckwalla
They're good and I have two still NIB. The stick is a little more stiff than the CX-40.

+FujiSkunk
I like the Gemstiks. Easily among the best 3rd-party sticks out there, in my humble opinion. I have a few that still get regular use. I've seen several where the rubber grip has pulled free from the base as RichG1972 mentioned, but other than that they seem to hold up pretty well for their age, at least among the ones I have and have come across. But I am a lefty so I hate those and the originals. For what it's worth, I'm also a lefty, and using a stick with my right hand has never bothered me. I'm not even sure I would find a "left-handed" stick all that comfortable, though maybe I would once I got used to it.
Deteacher
I have a collection of different sticks. I have Gemstiks, CX-40s, Slik Stiks, Tac-2's,Boss sticks, etc. My faves are the Gemstiks and the CX-40s...but I use the slik stik for track-n-field games. But I move the stick with my left hand and can't with my right hand. So its hard to press the button with my right hand. Be cool if it was button on the right side. Move stick with left hand and press button with my right hand. That's why I like my archer stick. Button is in the handle also so I can do it one handed. 0078265317
Or him. Bottom looks very similar to a gemstick except red instead of yellow. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Atari-Rapid-Fire-1-Joystick-Controller-Pad-2600-7800-Accessory-70-EX-/281956718787?hash=item41a5ee18c3:g:JyIAAOSwu1VW3K70
