Willard
Does anybody know where to get any atari lynx prototypes that haven't been released publically yet (meaning not the ones from B&C or other largely-distributed prototypes). If anybody here has one, i'll pay/trade for one. THANX
chris_lynx1989
you might want to just wait till some of these are released(yes some are still coming).mum is the word on what they are at the moment though.the economy is holding off their release at the time.no one wants to take the plunge or a bath in the lynx market for the time being.be patient.there are some nice things that are still to come on the lynx proto front!!you all need to hang in there!!if we could release them to you folks we would do it.no lies being said there.when the economic climate is better there will be a few releases that will happen for the lynx.august 2003 is the earliest you may see something happen.then again it may not be till spring 2004 when the economy is better to warrant this move.we shall see.patience.we don't control the wars happening and the falling of consumer confidence in the u.s. and elsewhere with the marketplace for lynx and etc.patience folks! --the ultimate atari lynxer
+karri
Hi Chris, That was funny. I did not know that digging up old Atari hard-disks had something to do with economic climate or consumer confidence . I thought it just had to do with how much spare time you can spend on this Lynx hobby. -- Cheers, Karri
eric_ruck
Could also do with how likely cash strapped hobbiest will be to shell out for a new Lynx cart. I've certainly cut back lately. And strangely the hobby game biz is like the real thing, you sell most of what you're going to sell in the first few weeks. So if they're slow, you could be in for a loss, even if your expenses are low (i.e. just manufacturing a small number of carts, or maybe buying the rights off somebody). Good luck, Chris. Maybe in my next life I'll be a big shot video game financier. Eric

patters98
Wow this is almost as exciting as the thread where someone said "I have a really neat idea for a homebrew but I'm not going to tell you what it is".

chris_lynx1989
yes, there were four games for the lynx that were coming for in 2003.as i said earlier, mum is the word at the moment on them.several great/good titles are on hold at the moment because of the economic climate in the u.s.,at least anyway.two developers of lynx stuff are sitting on them till august 2003 or later.a press release/atari age post will be issued when we feel confident enough to do it in the lynx world out there in general.consu- mer spending is down across the board in the u.s.a. if someone else wants to release a game for lynx now,let them.i'll buy a copy of it! i will not be a release freak though.not yet.not now.--the ultimate atari lynxer

Clock
It would be interesting to know what these 4 games were, if only to tease us. I would also like to know roughly the cost of Lynx prototypes when newly released.
chris_lynx1989
i told you folks wrong, there were five lynx titles to come in 2003.four i would have a hand in on and two of the four i would have had a definite hand on. as far as price goes,it looks like $49.95 was to be a starting point.this all hinges on the development costs and such though.these are still in the"in the works stages" though.the cost of releasing a lynx game to you guys is in the thousands of dollars($3000-5000 usually).unless someone wants to front that kind of money to us for you guys to see these to be able to buy them you'll have to wait till next year.that is the word now from the lynx front.2003 atari/lynx sales are at an all time low and things are being put on an indefinite hold till 2004.we're looking at february or march as when this might happen. the war and all have halted the u.s. markets in a very substantial manner. no matter what you may hear on the news or whatever.sales are way,way down across the board in the u.s.a in the computer and software sectors. many, many job layoffs and such are leading to very weak spending on the luxury items we all take for granted here.some may be doing ok and all but many folks are really hurting and feeling the pinch on this.the lynx and jag and atari market is on indefinite hold until further notice.sorry,folks.the writing is on the wall and we are going to read and heed what we are read ing and seeing.facts are facts.sorry.--the ultimate atari lynxer
Clock
Well I just found this web page and I nearly wet myself... ELITE on LYNX http://www.unspacy.demon.co.uk/games/lynx/lynx.html I can quite happily wait for Lynx games if there of this quality, especially an Elite game....Take as long as you need, and when you're ready, I'm ready. I would very happily pay $50 for some of the games on these pages. I also see a possible RPG on the way.... cool. ................but......look at the dates at the bottom, it's a couple of years now and some of the links don't work. Still a damn good read though.
