I'm asking for two reasons: 1) The new 1090 boards that are being made (would it be a benefit to it to have these lines) 2) The 800XL prototypes and working samples DID have +5 on pin 47/48 as do all 600XLs. foft
So where does it get RD4 and RD5 from on the XL?
Rybags
It would have to be patched in from the incoming line from the normal cart port I'd think. The cartridge decides whether this signal is active or not (usually hardwired) - the computer only uses that signal as part of memory select logic. With the XE, RD4, RD5, PORTB bit 0, PORTB bit 1, and PORTB bit 7, and some address lines (A15 through A11) are all needed so a PLD can determine if the EXTENB line is low or high and re-create it.
