+save2600
Two amazing games and glad to see they're getting some love from the VGC! With so many great homebrews for the 7800, gonna come a time where they'll surpass the original library (game for game) in terms of fun. Wait, think that may have already happened.
Trebor
Regarding Dungeon Stalker, it's a good review by The Video Game Critic, but really wish if the entire game is truly being reviewed, all the options should be checked out. Comments such as these... "...the game awards you with too many lives" & "You have a limited number of arrows (eight)...." ...indicates likely all that was tried was the "Standard" game setting and all the other settings were not fully (if at all), reviewed or explored. Some of the key differences among the various settings include: Novice - Lives = 6 | Arrows = Unlimited | Starting Level = 1 | Spider does not create webs Standard - Lives = 5 | Arrows = 8 | Starting Level = 1 Advance - Lives = 4 | Arrows = 7 | Starting Level = 2 Expert - Lives = 3 | Arrows = 6 | Starting Level = 3 | All enemies shots are large and blocks your arrows. There is literally a night a day difference between the challenge of a Standard game and an Expert game. Starting on Level 3, having only 3 lives with all enemies able to block your shots, makes it very hard to reason, "the game awards you with too many lives". Regarding both Frenzy and Dungeon Stalker there are gripes about the speech quality from The Video Game Critic. One uses the AtariVox (Dungeon Stalker) and the other the TIA (Frenzy). Not sure if the thought is there should be crystal clear speech from either source, but faulting the output on both games with two different devices providing speech, almost can lean towards an issue with perhaps the speaker(s) the speech is being heard from. Both games the speech is relatively clear and easy to understand passing though a pair of external Creative Speakers that provide very good sound quality overall.
