pixelmischief
I have the stereo RCA ports of my Mega STe connected to the line inputs on the CD channel of my receiver/amp. The sound is...squawky. It sounds overdriven, like when you push an amplified sound source onto something expecting a line -level signal. Any ideas what's up with that? Tillek
I have the stereo RCA ports of my Mega STe connected to the line inputs on the CD channel of my receiver/amp. The sound is...squawky. It sounds overdriven, like when you push an amplified sound source onto something expecting a line -level signal. Any ideas what's up with that? I can only say that when I was using my Mega STE as my main machine back in the day, I had it hooked up to some nice speakers and I can't really say I had any complaints. I'm not audiophile but squawky... I'd probably have noticed.
+SoulBuster
A true line in is not looking for amplified signals. If the signal coming out of the STe is amplified you will get overpowered sound through your sound system. If you can, just put speakers on the port and see if it is better. +save2600
Up to 2 volts is normally what you want when talking about line level inputs. STE putting out more than that? What about the potential for bad capacitors producing tons of distortion? That'll do it too...
