Joey Kay
Is there any converter boxes or anything that I could use as a go-between from my monitor out on my 130XE to allow it to be hooked to a VGA monitor. I suppose the most conventional way (if there is a way) would be to use a monitor cord with RCA outs to some type of box that could convert that standard RCA signal to SVGA... Anybody know anything about doing this? Cheers! Joey
+davidcalgary29
I just bought one of these, at the recommendation of Nir Dary: http://www.svideo.com/video2vga.html Haven't hooked it up yet, though.
aminerva
I use that same device, the video cheese box, and love it. I've used it for about a year now not only for atari & other game systems, but also to watch TV & DVD's on my VGA monitor. Can't say enough good things about it. Gunstar
I was going to suggest just such a device as an option, although I've never used one (to my knowledge) myself. I've never seen the Dreamcast's VGA converter either, but maybe it would be compatible with other systems? A more or less standard device similiar to the one above? Or maybe it could at least be modified for use with other systems if it uses the DC's port instead of the video cords going into the box like the one above? I'll look into that, it sounds interesting. The DC's MIGHT be compatible and cheaper. Anyone know?
robcatron
I ordered a product called, "VGA Box" and it works quite well, and it is less than half of the other one listed in the thread. Just go to Yahoo shopping, and do a search for "VGA Box" and you get the information on it. I got mine for $50 including shipping. I have been using it about a week, and have really enjoyed hooking my 8-bit to it. The only other thing I've had hooked to it is my Color Computer 3, and it worked great as well good luck, Rob Catron Frankfort, KY
aminerva
I bought my video cheese box for about $60, which I think is completely reasonable for such a great product (again, I had more use for it than just my atari, I used it for other game systems & to watch TV on my monitor). This is a bit more than I paid for it, but cheaper than the link above http://www.dvdirect.com/shop/Product.asp?sku=TVO5034
